Swastika - from Sanskrit -- Svastika -- Symbol of Well Being. This is an ancient symbol with variations
amongst many cultures. It is a symbol of Dharma in Arya Dharma and Buddhist Cultures.
Unfortunately associated since the last century with a group of people we shall call fools. In fact these
fools have so maligned this symbol, that now people(especially in the West) are ashamed to see it.
The left facing swastika has Buddhist origins. It represents Love and Mercy. It is
also a representation of the essential feminine qualities-- grace, beauty, calmness,
intelligence and compassion. The compassionate selfless love of a mother is supreme,
it is an embodiment of Brahman. These qualities are supreme and hence it is above the
masculine right facing swastika
Dharma Chakra -- this also has Buddhist origins. The Dharma Chakra is the
wheel of virtue or the wheel that transports the teachings of the Buddhas. The
Sakymuni Buddha was the last from a long line of Buddhas and he came over 2
millenniums ago when this world had disregarded the teachings of the Arya Dharma
and had fallen into a cesspool. It is written that whenever the teachings of the
Buddhas are completely ignored, a new Buddha will arise to once again turn the wheel
of the Arya Dharma. I believe this time will come soon since it is obvious the world is a
cesspool. This Chakra is the version created by the Emperor Ashoka, who was
instrumental in spreading the word of the Sakyamuni Buddha.
This has Vedic origins. It is still used in India to signify Good Luck and Well
being. It also represents the masculine qualities honesty, working to sustain the family,
strength and wisdom.
I have learned that the Swastika was also used in preChristian Europe, preIslamic Persia,
China and by the Native Americans.
